Routson Ranch: Freedom Fields, a place for freedom, tranquility and companionship

About Routson Ranch
For-Sure, the halflinger

The ranch has been in the family for almost 40 years. This small, charming, private environment close to the gold country town of Placerville still manages to find a way to preserve the feel of ÒcountryÓ.

The rolling landscape, studded with interesting rock outcroppings and etched by a seasonal stream, is shaded by majestic oaks: blue, valley, live, black, and red. The land inspires our family to be caretakers for future generations.

Renovation of original buildings dating back to as early as 1907 and specialized arborist care of our dear oaks has revitalized the ranch.

Originally established as a family farm for breeding imported Hanoverian sports horses, the Routson Ranch evolved to encompass the breeding, raising, training, and showing of many different breeds and types of horses. The ranch has been home to Haflingers, Thoroughbreds, Arabians, Quarter horses, Morgans, and Icelandics, while the variety of riding spans Western, English, Jumping, Eventing, Stock, Dressage, Trail, and Pleasure.
